To the Vet we go, tra-la...

Today was Harry's second vet visit for his Distemper series. This boy even trumps my Ollie on the cat coolness scale. During his first car trip to the vet , he howled and complained all the way there and back. Not so today... he stretched out on his back, calmly licked his paws, and didn't utter a sound. At traffic lights, I'd look over to see him grooming, or staring intently at the windshield, watching the wipers swipe to and fro.

At the office, he turned the adorable meter all the way up, attracting the attention of almost the whole staff. In the exam room, he just sprawled out on the exam table, waiting patiently while I rubbed his tummy. He snuggled right up to the Tech as well as the Vet, and only tried to escape while getting his temp taken and receiving the vaccine.

My Harry knows how to work the crowd, that's for sure. It reminded me how everyone used to gather round to say goodbye to Ollie when I picked him up after boarding. I'm lucky to have gotten another special Boy.

Hello again...

Ok, Shel, I hear you... I need to take a few minutes and tell you all what's been going on. I didn't realize how easy it would be for me to fall out of the habit of blogging.

Several things kept me offline during the months of October and November...

1. A few new projects at work that tend to keep me busy during a whole shift:

-- An internet research project involved lifting all restrictions to my internet access. Figuring that my browsing history could therefore be under closer scrutiny, I virtually eliminated all non-work related internet surfing.

-- Re-designing sections of our Department Intranet Site. No explanation needed on that one.

-- Additional support needed for clients transitioning from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Pro.

2. Renovating a former garage bay into an additional room at the boyfriend's rental property. I learned how to hang drywall!

3. Meeting with the builder of boyfriends new house (now under construction, scheduled for occupancy in March 2002) to work out details. It's sweet of Mark to include me in the process even though it's "his", not "ours".

4. Parental responsibilities. In addition to spending more time with Mark's kids, I'm now Daddy to a new kitten... Harry is about 10 weeks old, and I'd forgotten how much work a young animal can create. I'll post pictures of Harry, the house, and the apartment we renovated soon.

Thanks for your patience, everyone. Comments on the new "autumn-y" color scheme?
